Currently there are (1) Captain, (1) Lieutenant, (7) firefighters and (1) fire alarm operator on each of the four shifts. Each shift works a rotating schedule of day and night shifts covering 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Station One, which is located on Brown Avenue in the Beach District, is staffed with (1) Lieutenant, (1) Firefighter/EMT and (1)Firefighter/Paramedic who are all assigned to an ALS (Advanced Life Support) Engine company.
Station Two, which is located on Winnacunnet Road in the Town District, is staffed with (1) Captain and (4) Firefighters. The Captain and (2) firefighters are assigned to an Engine company. The other (2) firefighters are assigned to an Ambulance. The (1) firefighter is assigned to the Ladder Truck. The (1) Fire Alarm operator is assigned to the dispatch center at Station Two.
If two emergency medical calls occur simultaneously the (2) firefighters that are assigned to the Engine company move over and staff a second Ambulance and respond to the call. By shifting the (2) firefighters to the Ambulance the Engine company is now out of service and unavailable to respond to emergencies. As you can see there are many times when the Engine, Ambulance or Ladder company are out of service and unavailable to respond to emergencies because there are not enough firefighters on duty to staff enough apparatus enough of the time.
For over 30 years the Hampton Firefighters have held a toy drive during the holiday season to collect toys for children whose families are experiencing difficult times. Through the generosity of the people in the community who donate the toys and the business owners who keep collection boxes in their stores we are able to collect new, unwrapped toys. Firefighters and their families, friends, and seniors gather as Christmas nears to wrap hundreds of toys. A few days later each child meets Santa Claus at a holiday party and receives their toys from him.
As the holiday season approaches if you have a new, unwrapped toy that you want to donate you can drop it off at either fire station or at one of the drop off locations throughout town. If you have any questions or need more information:
In 2001 Hampton Fire & Rescue along with Hampton Firefighters established our car seat inspection program. The program is designed for parents, guardians, and caregivers to not only have their child's car seat inspected and installed by certified inspectors but participants are instructed how to properly install the car seat themselves.
All of our inspectors receive initial extensive training, many hours of continuing education, and are required to recertify every two years.
We are always willing and able to answer any car seat related questions you may have. To make an appointment for a car seat installation you can call 926-3316 or stop by one of our fire stations.
