Every year the Professional Firefighters of Hampton Local 2664 proudly awards a scholarship to a Winnacunnet High School graduate who intends to further his or her education in the Fire or Medical related field.
The 2009 Scholarship is Presented
The Professional Firefighters of Hampton IAFF Local 2664 is proud to announce that Nicole Kent of Hampton, a 2009 Winnacunnet High School graduate, is this year's recipient of our annual Fire Science Scholarship.
Every year the Professional Firefighters of Hampton IAFF Local 2664 award a local graduate, who wishes to pursue a degree in Fire Science, a $1,000 scholarship.
As a former recipient of this scholarship I can attest to the value of having the support of our community's firefighters.
To be considered for our scholarship a student must write an essay about themselves and how their personal endeavors relate to the fire service.
Each year a number of applications are reviewed by the Professional Firefighters of Hampton Scholarship Committee members.
The committee consists of Firefighters Matthew Newton, Jeremey Timson and myself. At the presentation Matthew Newton stated, "Nicole was hands-down the right student for the award because of her dedication to her career path."
Nicole, will pursue an associate's degree in fire science and fire investigation.
She will enter Lakes Region Community College, in Laconia, N.H., this fall. Nicole is ambitious in her career path and one day hopes to work for Seacoast-area fire department.
Miss Kent is a shining example of the type of student that the Hampton school system is able to produce.
